Wound annular or rings were made in Germany during 19th Century. The early ones have a grey tint, and only around 1860 appeared the clear ones, and even later the cobalt shades and green ones. Production stopped about 1900. Some authors call them Dutch 'donut' shaped beads. They appear as small glass rings with wide holes. These beads were revered by the Dogon people of Mali, West Africa
